The best sides of Soviet Russia
  • There was no unemployment. The level of well-being of the "lower classes" and "upper circles" in the country varied, but not by a factor of ten. The middle class made up the vast majority of the population. A skilled worker could earn even more than the director of the factory in which he worked.

  • In the USSR there was a great science. About half of the world's scientists and engineers worked in this country. The first man in the space was a socialist, and the USSR was the second country to test an atomic bomb.

  • Universal and free medicine reached its peak by the middle 80s. For 10 thousand people, we had 100 doctors each, and a mandatory medical examination was introduced.

  • The USSR was one of the two world superpowers, and its army was the most powerful in the world.

The weakest sides of Soviet Russia
  • Censorship covered all areas of life, including media, literature, music, cinema, theatre, ballet, and even fashion. Prominent writers and poets were forced to leave their homeland.

  • The USSR was a totalitarian country. The irremovability of power led to the stagnation of public life. Stalin ruled for 31 years, Brezhnev for 18 years, Khrushchev for 11 years. Elections were just a formality.

  • From 1921 to 1940 alone, approximately 3 million people were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. At the stage of the formation of the USSR, entire groups of the population were repressed: entrepreneurs, priests, and others. The Gulag became one of the symbols of the Soviet system.

  • The Soviet people have never lived in abundance in all history. Even in the relatively prosperous 70s, toilet paper, then tights, and beer were in short supply, not to mention sausage.

During the tour you will stop at:
The tour takes approximately 2 hours
The Solovetsky Stone
The Solovetsky Stone at Lubyanskaya Square is the symbol of notorious events. Many great innocent people became victims of political suppression. Lubyanskaya square was the spot of social terror, and the Solovetsky Islands was a prison for "political criminals."
Revolution Square (Ploshchad Revolutsii)
Would you like to be at the place where the Soviet Union was born? You can do it because our guides tell you in detail about those events, and you will be able to feel the atmosphere of the Revolution.
The Bolshoi Theatre
It's a criminal to visit Moscow and not to see the Bolshoi Theatre. During the tour, tourists can see the building just outside and learn the story of creation. Nowadays on its stage, only the best directors put the most memorable performances in the world; the best ballet troupes perform and play fantastic operas there.
Tsum
It was the first store to give up cards and sell goods at wholesale prices, and in 1955 the Central Department Store was the first to open direct access to goods for customers. It would seem trifles, but for the Soviet era, it was an incredible innovation.

Over the past 110 years, TSUM has changed itself and has changed the fashion industry.
Moscow State Duma
This building is a must-have part of the tour. Duma is one of the most important and valuable places for every Moscovite. You will see the building with a 12-column porch, which was built in the 18th century for the family of Prince S.V. Gagarin, and learn interesting facts about the restored park from the preserved drawings by O.I. Bove.
Petrovka
In the 18-century, the street began to be intensively built up. Then it became one of the main shopping streets in Moscow. Many remarkable buildings have survived on Petrovka. For example, Petrovsky Passage. In the 30s there was the Airship, where airships were designed. At the entrance to the passage in 1921, the statue "The Worker" by sculptor M. Manizer was mounted on the wall.
Tverskaya Street
It`s one of the most extensive and the most underrated street in Europe. There are so many beautiful buildings along this street that it blows up your minds. Tverskaya Street in Moscow has changed a lot during the Soviet era. You can get acquainted with its sights during the tour. And you can walk along the same streets where Pushkin and Esenin liked walking and inspiring themselves.
Gastronomia Eliseevsky (Tverskaya Street)
Do you think it's just a store? It's a masterpiece and a simply stunning place. You will go grocery shopping in a converted 18th-century mansion complete with stained-glass, chandeliers and ornate art decorations! Just marvel at the beauty of the store. And our guides will complete the seeing with a wonderful story of development, secret KGB investigation, and some restorations.
Pushkin Square (Pushkinskaya Ploshchad)
Pushkinskaya Square is the liveliest of the city squares and the real heart of Moscow. Muscovites met the miraculous icon of the Holy Mother of God, built a slender five-domed cathedral, then a monastery and a bell tower, and, later, a monument to Pushkin. But in Soviet times, the monastery and Pushkin could not be in the same territory.

Also, there is the first McDonald's at Pushkin square, which served over 30 thousand visitors. It was the world record for the first working day in the history of McDonald's.
